About Dr. Bayless

Dr. Bayless offers treatments and the latest surgical techniques in treating damage caused by arthritis and injuries suffered to the bones, ligaments, muscles, and joints.  He enjoys working individually with each of his patients to find the best options to living healthy and active. The orthopedic areas he specializes in include:

Board certified for over 21 years as an orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Bayless has provided Irving and surrounding communities with a high level of orthopedic and sports medicine care. He provides medical coverage for the MacArthur and Nimitz High School athletic teams.  As a member of the Irving-Las Colinas Chamber of Commerce and other community organizations, Dr. Bayless is an integral part of the community.  He has practiced in Irving, Texas since 1988 and completing his residency at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas.  Dr. Bayless has served as Chairman of the Department of Orthopedics and President of the Baylor-Irving Hospital Medical Staff.

Dr. Bayless is the founding member of Irving Orthopedics and Sports Medicine.  This practice is comprised of other surgeons, spine specialists, therapists, and other medical professionals.  Everything from ambulatory surgery to physician office visits is available on the medical campus. Dr. Bayless is a member of American Surgeons International and travels to Saudi Arabia regularly to teach and perform total joint reconstruction. Dr. Bayless enjoys spending time with his wife and family, traveling, hunting, and competing in Masters Track Meets nationally and internationally.

Masters track and field accomplishments Dr. Bayless has competed in Masters track and field competitions regularly since 2008. He has won All-American status numerous times in the high jump, long jump, triple jump, 100 meter high hurdles, and the indoor 60 meter high hurdles. Highlights of his 2011 competitions in the 50-54 year age group include:

  • USATF Masters Indoor National Championships in Albuquerque, New Mexico; 2nd place Long Jump 18ft 11in.
  • USATF Masters Outdoors National Championship in Berea, OH; 2nd place Long Jump 18ft 5in.;  3rd place 100 meter High Hurdles 15.52 seconds
  • National Senior Games in Houston, TX; 2nd place Long Jump 19ft 7in
  • World Masters Athletics Championships in Sacramento, CA; Tie 4th place High Jump 5ft 8in.;  8th place Long Jump 17ft 6in.
